Bible Text: Exodus 19:1-9a

Reflection & Application

Exodus 19:4-6

  • What can I learn from the fact that God calls the Israelites, the grumbling nation of rescued slaves, to be His “treasured possession” and “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation”?  How does this encourage me?

  • In the New Testament, the church, like the Israelites of the Old Testament, is called “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation” (cf. 1 Peter 2:9).  What does this mean regarding how I live my life?

  • Reflect on the fact that I am God’s “treasured possession”.  What does it mean to be “treasured” by God?  What does it mean to be God’s “possession”?
