Bible Text: Luke 6:12-16 (ESV)

Luke 6:12-13

  • Note what Jesus did before the choosing of the twelve apostles.  What can I learn from Jesus’ example?

  • As opposition to Jesus mounts and begins to formalize (v. 11), Jesus officially forms his inner circle. What can I learn from this?

  • The number twelve represents the number of tribes of Israel. What is the significance of Jesus selecting twelve disciples?

  • Reflect on the fact that among the Twelve are Levi, a collaborator with the Romans, and Simon the “Zealot,” which was a group of people dedicated to violent overthrow of Roman occupation.
